Siesta Docks and Hammocks: Overview
Retrospec’s Siesta Hammocks and Docks use their AerGlide Lite construction – just like in the Retrospec Weekender 10’6” iSUP. This is a lightweight construction to help make these floats easier to use and more affordable.
The docks and hammocks offer a variety of different features depending on if you want the solid-top Siesta Dock or the mesh-bottomed Siesta Hammock. The two sizes of docks share the same feature set for the most part, but the two Hammocks differ in size, shape, and features.
Construction
Inside the Siesta Docks and Hammocks is a knitted drop stitch core. This is a standard interior structure for inflatable watercraft with thousands of yarns connecting two layers of knitted fabric. These yarns keep the Docks and Hammocks flat when inflated, and set the thickness to 8”. This is thicker than a typical iSUP (6”). By making the Docks and Hammocks 8” thick, they become more rigid at a lower pressure (max pressure is 10 PSI), and they have more volume and buoyancy for a higher capacity.
The outer layer of the Hammocks and Docks is made with a single layer of PVC applied directly to the inner core, and the sides are glued together with a double layer of PVC for improved durability.
Features: Siesta Docks
The Siesta Docks biggest feature is the full-coverage deck pad. With edge-to-edge coverage you can use the entire dock to comfortably sit, stand, lay down, jump around, fish, do cartwheels… you get the idea.
Both size docks feature a plethora of D-rings around the edge of the dock to tie down equipment (and connect to other floats and SUPs), and multiple handles around the dock’s rail and deck to help you get on the dock from the water and tie down other equipment. The 7’x7’ Siesta Dock has 8 deck handles and 4 corner rail handles; the 10’x10’ Siesta Dock XL has 8 deck handles, 4 corner rail handles, and 4 side rail handles.
Both sizes have 14 D-Rings (including an anchor D-ring on the bottom of the dock) and three threaded mounts on the corners of the Siesta Docks for things like camera mounts, fishing rod holders, and more.
In addition to those D-rings and mounting points, the Siesta Docks also have Retrospec’s EasyLink system for connecting their AerComfort inflatable seats. There are three sets of these fabric loops on the 7’x7’ Siesta Dock and four sets on the 10’x10’ Siesta Dock XL.

Features: Siesta Hammocks
While the Siesta Docks have a full-coverage deck pad, the Siesta Hammocks don’t even have a full-coverage deck! That’s because these floats are designed with a large circular cutout in the middle covered with a mesh floor on the bottom of the Hammock. The mesh floor is connected to the inflatable portion of the Hammock by a bungee cord. This lets the floor “sink” a few inches into the water when you sit or lay down on it, but still keeps you comfortably supported.
The biggest difference between the two size Hammocks is their outer shape. The 8’ Siesta Hammock is circular on the outside with a square cutout in the middle, while the 10’x10’ Siesta Hammock XL is a square shape on the outside and has a circular cutout- almost like a hybrid dock and hammock.
Both Hammocks have two relatively small sections of deck pad on opposite sides of the float. Each section has plenty of room for one adult, or two if you’re really good friends. But the focus of the Hammocks is to sit back and relax in the water rather than on it.
The 8’ round Hammock has a more minimal feature set with four handles around the edge of the float, four D-rings on the deck, and three threaded accessory mounting points.
The 10’x10’ square Hammock has 8 handles around the edge of the float, 10 standard D-rings on the deck, three threaded accessory mounts, and a cargo bungee threaded between four more D-rings in one corner. The cargo area is a lovely feature that I haven’t seen on any of the other floats we’ve tested.

Included Accessories
Whether you get a Siesta Dock, Siesta Hammock, or all of them, each float comes with a small accessory kit that includes:
- Double-action hand pump
- Basic repair and maintenance kit
- Compression strap to roll the float up when deflated
- Storage/Transportation bag to keep everything together
While it may not seem like a lot, once again Retrospec is providing a great value here. Most other inflatable floats, docks, and hammocks don’t come with pumps or bags.
Summary Review of the Siesta Docks and Hammocks
Sharing the adventure with your friends and family is the best way to enjoy the outdoors whether you are hiking, biking, paddle boarding, or just relaxing on the water. Retrospec’s new lineup of Siesta Docks and Floats offers a fantastic value for groups of all sizes, and their option to link together means you can invite everyone!
The hardest part will be deciding which of the Siesta Docks and Hammocks to get first!
