- Welded seams for maximum lifespan
- Full-size deck pad lets you use the entire ring

Cons
- The Floating Hammocks do not come with a dedicated storage bag

Nixy’s new Floating Hammocks will be the center of attention for your friends and family whether you use it for a relaxing float or as a hub for your paddling adventures.

Not every trip to the lake or bay needs to be a long paddling trip, but you don’t need to be landlocked to relax and soak up some rays. Nixy’s new Floating Hammocks offer a brilliant “best of both worlds” for fun and relaxation on the water. The full size deck pad is a unique feature for these kinds of floats, and lets you more easily share with friends and family, or stretch out and relax both in and out of the water.
And Nixy didn’t skimp on these floats. They are made with high quality materials and welded seams for years of enjoyment.
The Floating Hammocks are available in two sizes – 8’ Diameter and 10’ Diameter. The 8’ version is great for up to 4 adults, and the 10’ can accommodate up to 8.
We think the Nixy Floating Hammocks would be great for anyone who:
- Wants to share the stoke with friends and family
- Enjoys relaxing in and on the water
- Wants an easily-portable, multi-use, multi-person float / dock hybrid
- Appreciates higher quality construction for a longer-lived product

Nixy Floating Hammocks Review: Overview

Construction
The Nixy Floating Hammocks are built with a single-layer fusion PVC material. Because these large floats aren’t meant for paddling, they don’t need the extra rigidity that you get from the dual-layer fusion construction found on Nixy’s iSUPs. The single layer of PVC is still physically bonded to the drop stitch core, however, so it is a durable and long-lasting material.
The core of the Floating Hammocks is made with 8” drop stitch instead of 6” like Nixy’s iSUPs. This extra thickness gives the hammocks more volume and capacity, and it makes them more rigid than a thinner build.
But what really sets the Nixy hammocks apart from others is their use of heat-welded seams. Most other floats are made with an adhesive layer to join the parts together. Adhesives work OK, but there is a ton of variation in the type of glue used, how well the material was prepped, how well the glue was applied, etc., that can lead to issues later on. Heat welding melts the two pieces of PVC together at a specific temperature and pressure to bond the materials physically together. That basically makes it one continuous piece of PVC material and less susceptible to damage from heat and pressure.
Features
Nixy has built their Floating Hammocks for comfort on the water. The top of both the 8’ and 10’ Hammock is completely covered with Nixy’s EVA-foam deck pad. Many other floats like this only give you small sections of pad on the deck. Now you can sit, lay down, or stand anywhere on the Hammock ring. On that pad there are three D-rings with built-in M8 threaded mounts for cup holders, phone holders, fishing rod holders, and more.
The inflatable section of the Hammock makes a ring around the outside of the float, and the inner section is a mesh fabric hung on the bottom side of the ring. This mesh is connected to the ring with bungee cord to let it move and sag slightly (like a hammock!) when you sit or lay on it. Large items (like coolers) can sit in the mesh area without being lost, but smaller items will slip through the gap between the fabric and the ring, so make sure to bring a dry bag for your phone, keys, and sunscreen!
Lastly, there are four handles around the edge of the 8’ Hammock and six handles around the edge of the 10’ Hammock to easily move, attach, or anchor the Hammock, and they make it easier to get back on the deck if you go for a quick swim.
Included Accessories
The Nixy Floating Hammocks come with a basic set of accessories – a strap to keep the hammock closed up when not in use, a repair kit, and your choice of either the Nixy Typhoon hand pump or the Nixy Ventus electric pump (my recommendation is the Ventus).
It would be nice to see a storage bag for the kit as well as a few more built-in features (like cargo storage, more D-rings/mounts, or even built-in cup holders.
Summary Review of the Nixy Floating Hammocks

The Nixy Floating Hammocks are a beautiful combination of comfort and construction. Designed for ultimate relaxation on the water, these Hammocks are a treat for the whole family.
