Big Bro Paddle BoardJimmy Styks Big Bro Review

The Big Bro is the best entry level stand up paddleboard there is for larger novice SUP riders who weigh up to 240 lbs. It has a simple and a very professional design and is available in the colors blue, red and wood printed inlay. It has an elevated rocker handle chop and its removable three-fin configuration helps you maneuver through still and rough waters with so much ease. This is the most versatile model that Jimmy Styks SUP made so far and performance wise, it does not disappoint

Performance

The overall shape of the Big Bro, the distribution of its volume and the configuration of its rocker and removable thruster fin works well for flat water, rough water or for wave paddling. It is fast and stable so you won’t have second thoughts paddling through waves and bumpy waters.

The Standard Construction method that was used in making the Big Bro model makes use of quality materials to offer maximum strength, great performance, and stability. The construction starts with a 2 lb. Expanded polystyrene blank and a ¼ inch stringer, and then a 3 layer of 6 oz. of epoxy glass or fiberglass is applied to the deck in order to give a better standing support. A lighter 2 layer of 6 oz. fiberglass or epoxy glass schedule is then placed at the bottom in order to minimize the weight of the board. Lastly, a final clear coat is applied, and it is then polished to have a beautiful luster that will last.

Conclusion

If you are a starting or an intermediate level surfer looking to enhance your stand up paddling skills, the Big Bro Stand Up Paddleboard is a great choice. It is very easy to carry and to maneuver since it is very lightweight and it is designed with a layout that will make paddling through waves easy for you. The performance is stable and impressive, and it works best in flat or rough water. You also don’t have to spend a lot because the Big Bro comes at a very affordable price.

    • I’d contact Jimmy Styks directly. They might still have some replacement fins. The Big Bro is an older model though so you might be unlucky.
